A jury with representatives from industry, academia, associations and the media selected 14 candidates for the German Innovation Award for Climate and Environment (IKU), among them Clariant Produkte (Deutschland) GmbH with its sunliquid® technology.
sunliquid® stands for the sustainable and economic production of cellulosic ethanol from agricultural residues – a truly sustainable biofuel with up to 95% CO2 emission savings which does not compete with food and feed production. The nomination shows that the sunliquid® technology has great potential to make a significant contribution to sustainable mobility.
Every two years, the German Innovation Award for Climate and Environment honors innovative projects and ideas that pave the way to a cleaner future. The selection was based on a scientific evaluation which was carried out by the Fraunhofer Institute for Research and Innovation (ISI).
The German Innovation Award for Climate and Environment (IKU) is organized by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) and the Federation of German Industries (BDI) and is financed by the BMUB Climate Initiative. The award ceremony will take place in Berlin on 20th January 2016 where the winners will be announced.
